Richard Stockton (1-1) fell to Mary Washington (2-0) 59-44 in the first round of the Mike Durgala Memorial Tournament at Johns Hopkins University. LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/ Overbrook) led the Ospreys with 20 points, tied for game-high honors, plus a game-high eight rebounds. Freshman Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) contributed 10 points and seven boards as the two players totaled 30 of Stockton’s 44 points in the game.

Mary Washington dominated the first half, jumping out to a 15-4 lead, and Stockton’s deficit grew to 16 points, 36-20, at the break. Oliver led all players with 12 first-half points but the Ospreys shot a dismal 0-13 from three-point range and just 8-32 (25%) from the field. Stockton cut a 21-point second-half margin down to 11 on a free throw by Nancy White (Ocean City/Ocean City) with 4:35 to play, but the Ospreys scored just three more points the rest of the way and fell 59-44.
