Richard Stockton (7-3) played its first game since December 12 and defeated Bridgewater State (MA) (3-4) 77-68 in the opening round of the Moravian Greyhound Starters Classic. Santini Lancioni (Runnemede/Paul VI) went 5-6 from three-point range and scored a team-high 21 points. Kai Massaquoi (Lawnside/Haddon Hts.) tossed in 17 points and Matt Haddix (Sicklerville/Vineland) tallied 10 points.

The Ospreys broke open a tight first half with a 13-2 run that resulted in a 40-26 lead with 2:54 on the clock. Massaquoi later closed the scoring in the period with a layup to give Stockton a 44-33 advantage at the break. Lancioni drained four treys and scored 14 points in the half, followed by Massaquoi with 11 points. Stockton also forced 13 Moravian turnovers before intermission.

Stockton’s lead ballooned to 17 points at 56-39 as Haddix capped an 8-1 spurt by scoring on a layup with 13:46 remaining in the game. Bridgewater State rallied to within 72-68 with 1:23 to play but Massaquoi answered with two free throws and Haddix followed with a steal and two from the stripe to end the threat and propel the Ospreys to the 77-68 win.
