Richard Stockton (6-5, 2-1 NJAC) rallied to take a seven-point lead late in the second half but could not hold on as Montclair State (9-5, 3-1) scored the final 11 points of the game and defeated the Ospreys 64-60. Stockton was led in scoring by Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT/New Britain) and freshman Jill Shaner (Egg Harbor Township/EHT) with 11 points each. It was a career high in points for Shaner in her rookie season.

Stockton led by seven after a basket by Sula Washington (Montgomery Village, MD/Watkins Mill) with 8:39 left in the first half, but Montclair went on a 25-8 run that included the final six points of the first half for a 39-29 score at the break. The Ospreys went without a field goal for the last seven minutes, scoring their only points on two free throws apiece by Nancy White (Ocean City/Ocean City) and Fagan.

After trailing by 12 early in the second half, Stockton battled back and used a 12-4 spurt to turn a one-point deficit into a 60-53 lead after a free throw by Fagan with 5:45 remaining. Shaner sparked the comeback with seven second-half points but Montclair State shut the Ospreys down and scored the last 11 points of the game while Stockton missed its final six shots and fell 64-60.
