Richard Stockton (11-12, 5-6) went cold in the second half and fell short 60-44 against rival Rowan (15-7, 8-3) in an NJAC South Division game. Stockton, which was playing its third game in six days, shot just 14 percent in the second stanza, including 0-12 from three-point range. LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) led the Ospreys with 11 points while Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT/New Britain) pulled down 11 rebounds and scored seven points.

Stockton played well in the first half with the exception of a six-minute drought that resulted in a 16-8 deficit. The Ospreys responded with 17-4 run led by five points apiece from Fagan and Nancy White (Ocean City/Ocean City). The spurt produced a 25-20 lead before Rowan closed the half with a four-point burst that cut Stockton’s edge down to one at 25-24.

In the second half, Jill Shaner (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) hit a free throw to put Stockton ahead 33-32 with 16:49 remaining. The Ospreys then fell victim to a lengthy shooting slump and scored just four points in the next 13 minutes while Rowan opened up an insurmountable 21-point lead. Stockton finished with just 19 points in the second half and suffered its third straight defeat, 60-44.
