Richard Stockton (13-14) saw its 2009-10 season come to an end with a 69-68 defeat to Brooklyn College (17-10) in the ECAC Metro quarterfinals. LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/ Overbrook) paced a quartet of double-digit scorers for Stockton with team highs of 17 points and 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) scored 14 points while Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph) and Nancy White (Ocean City/ Ocean City) tossed in 10 points apiece.

Stockton did not score for the first 4:23 and trailed 7-0 before Thompson finally got the Ospreys on the board with a layup. The Ospreys led only 1:27 of the entire first half and trailed 35-29 at the break. Stockton later outscored Brooklyn 22-6 over a seven-minute span of the second half to turn a nine-point deficit into a 58-51 lead with 8:46 remaining. Thompson led the rally with six points and Nelson contributed five.

Brooklyn regained the lead before Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT/New Britain) hit two clutch free throws to tie the score at 66 with 1:34 on the clock. Brooklyn then went ahead for good at 69-66 on a three-point play with 28 seconds left. The Ospreys pulled within 69-68 on a basket by Nelson at the 13-second mark, but Stockton was unable to get a final shot. The one-point loss brought the Ospreys’ season to a close with a 13-14 record for a young Stockton team with no seniors and just two juniors.
