Richard Stockton freshman Demetrius Rooks (Galloway/ Absegami) was named the NJAC Men’s Track & Field Rookie of the Week and junior Amanda Williams (Williamstown/ Williamstown) was chosen the NJAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Rooks and Williams each earned their first career NJAC weekly awards for their efforts at the Stockton Invitational on Saturday.

Rooks won a pair of events for the Ospreys, crossing the finish line first in the 400-meter dash at 49.10 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 54.65 seconds. The freshman also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.14 seconds in his first college outdoor meet. Rooks qualified for the ECAC Championships in all three events. Earlier this year, he earned NJAC All-Conference Second Team honors in the indoor 400-meter dash.

Williams won the high jump by clearing the bar at 1.62 meters, which qualified her to compete in the ECAC Championships later this season. The junior also finished fourth in the triple jump at the Stockton Invitational, registering a best effort of 10.29 meters. Williams is a three-time NJAC All-Conference Honorable Mention performer in the high jump (indoors twice, outdoors once).
