JILL SHANER NAMED NJAC WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK |
 Richard Stockton freshman Jill Shaner (Egg Harbor Twp./ EHT) was named the NJAC Women’s Track & Field Rookie of the Week. Shaner won the javelin at the University of Delaware Open on Saturday, besting 13 competitors with a best throw of 43.41 meters on her final attempt. The distance was a personal best for Shaner and stands as the third-best effort in NCAA Division III this season.
Shaner won the javelin for the third time in four meets this year and even topped seven NCAA Division I competitors from Delaware, Towson University and Coppin State. A two-sport athlete at Stockton, Shaner also played in all 27 games for the Osprey women’s basketball team over the winter, averaging 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in her rookie season. |
