In track & field, Demetrius Rooks (Galloway/Absegami) was selected NJAC Men’s Rookie of the Week for the third time and Jill Shaner (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) was chosen NJAC Women’s Rookie of the Week for the second time. Larro batted .455 (5-11) with two doubles, two runs and two RBI in Stockton’s three NJAC victories last week, including a three-hit performance in a 10-3 win over New Jersey City on Saturday. The rookie outfielder hit safely in all three games and extended his current hitting streak to six. Overall, Larro is hitting .317 with 17 RBI, 15 walks, 14 runs and six doubles in 31 games played during his freshman year. Rooks competed in two meets last week, starting with the Penn Relays, where he ran three races. The next day, Rooks placed second out of 49 runners in the 400m at the TCNJ Lions Invitational with a time of 48.25 seconds. Shaner posted a pair of victories in the javelin last week, winning the event at the Penn Relays on Thursday and the TCNJ Lions Invitational on Saturday. At the Penn Relays, the freshman unleashed a winning effort of 46.71 meters that was a personal best, school record and the best throw in NCAA Division III this season. Shaner won the javelin at The College of New Jersey meet with a distance of 43.66 meters for her sixth consecutive victory in the event. |
