LISA SHEPHERD NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM |
Richard Stockton senior Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/ Oakcrest) was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Track & Field/Cross Country First Team. Shepherd, a six-time All-American high jumper boasts a 3.92 grade point average and takes classes in Stockton’s physical therapy doctoral program.
As an Academic All-District II First Team selection, Shepherd will have an opportunity to earn a second Academic All-America honor. She was voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women’s Track/Cross Country Second Team last year. The senior also ended her career as a three-time NJAC All-Academic Team honoree (2010 Second Team, 2008-09 Honorable Mention). On May 29, Shepherd finished third in the high jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, earning her sixth All-American honor in six NCAA Championship appearances (four outdoor, two indoor). She became the first Stockton female student-athlete ever to collect six career All-American honors. Shepherd won the high jump at four meets during the 2010 outdoor season and three meets during the 2009-10 indoor slate. The senior won the NJAC high jump championships both indoors and outdoors for the fourth consecutive year. Shepherd also was named NJAC Field Athlete of the Week five times and repeated as the Stockton Female Athlete of the Year. The Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams are chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA). The CoSIDA District II College Division consists of all non-Division I schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. |
