|
Richard Stockton senior high jumper Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) earned her second consecutive Academic All-America honor with her selection to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women’s Track/ Cross Country First Team. The award capped a brilliant career for Shepherd, who became Stockton’s first female six-time All-American and collected numerous athletic and academic honors throughout the last four seasons. Shepherd achieved All-America status in the high jump in all six of her trips to the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships (four outdoor, two indoor). She was named Stockton Female Athlete of the Year twice and swept the high jump at the NJAC Championships both indoors and outdoors for all four of her collegiate seasons. Shepherd also was voted Outstanding Female Field Athlete at the NJAC Championships twice. Shepherd, a 2009 Academic All-America Second Teamer, arned her Academic All-America College Division First Team nod on the strength of a 3.92 grade point average at Stockton, where she is now enrolled in the College’s physical therapy doctoral program. She also garnered Academic All-District II honors twice (2009-10) and NJAC All-Academic Team kudos three times (2010 Second Team, 2008-09 Honorable Mention) for her work in the classroom. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America teams are chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA). The College Division consists of NCAA Division II, III and NAIA institutions. |
