Stockton 68, Penn State Harrisburg 57

Richard Stockton (2-1) won the consolation game of the Rinso Marquette Tournament at Lebanon Valley College 68-57 over Penn State Harrisburg (0-3). Sophomore Nnamdi Usuwa (Colonia/Colonia) posted his first college double-double with career highs of 19 points and 17 rebounds. Usuwa later was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Pat Kelly (Cape May CH/Wildwood Catholic) hit five three-pointers and scored 17 points while Kai Massaquoi (Lawnside/Haddon Hts.) contributed 10 points for the Ospreys. Stockton overcame 25 turnovers by dominating the glass for a 53-23 rebound advantage behind Usuwa’s 17 caroms and DiAndre Brown (Sicklerville/ Camden Co. Tech) with a career-best 13 boards.

After falling behind by seven in the opening minutes, the Ospreys roared back to take a 28-22 lead at halftime. Stockton closed the half with a 9-2 run that included two layups by Usuwa plus Kelly’s fourth three-pointer of the half. Kelly and Usuwa carried the Stockton offense with 12 and eight first-half points respectively.

In the second half, Usuwa and Matt Haddix (Sicklerville/Vineland) scored two baskets apiece during 10-point burst that put Stockton ahead 51-40 with 9:07 to play. Penn State Harrisburg rallied to within 53-52 at the 4:25 mark before Usuwa sank two free throws to keep the Ospreys in front. Stockton went 8-10 at the line in the last 1:19, including 5-6 by Massaquoi, to seal the 68-57 win.
