Richard Stockton senior Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/Atlantic City) finished 100th out of 279 runners at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with an eight-kilometer time of 25:27 in his final college race. Akhtar made his second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships and was the second of three NJAC runners to cross the finish line.

Akhtar’s performance capped an outstanding senior season in which he won five races, including the NJAC championship to become Stockton’s first individual conference champ in cross country. The senior also earned USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region and NJAC Runner of the Year honors as well as six NJAC Runner of the Week awards this year.

Akhtar and Randy Wetzel are the only two Stockton cross country runners ever to qualify for the NCAA Championships, with both accomplishing the feat twice. Akhtar finished his career with 12 individual race victories and two NJAC All-Conference First Team nods in his four seasons at Stockton.
