Richard Stockton (3-2, 1-0 NJAC) began conference play on a positive note with a 52-37 victory over winless Rutgers-Camden (0-3, 0-1) in the first NJAC game of the season. Kai Massaquoi (Lawnside/Haddon Hts.) and Nnamdi Usuwa (Colonia/Colonia) drove the Stockton offense by combining for 35 points.

Massaquoi shot 7-10 from the floor, including a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc, for a game-high 18 points while Usuwa went 7-11 from the field and scored 17 points.

The Ospreys got off to a slow start and fell behind 8-1 after six missed shots and four turnovers in the first six minutes. Massaquoi and Usuwa each converted three-point plays and Colin Horsch (Monroe Twp./Atlantic Christian) followed with five straight points as Stockton roared into the lead with an 11-2 run.

The Ospreys later reeled off 11 unanswered points, six by Usuwa and five by Massaquoi for a 25-14 lead on the way to a 27-16 advantage at the half. Usuwa (11) and Massaquoi (10) combined for 21 of Stockton’s 27 first-half points.

Rutgers-Camden pulled within six with 13 minutes to play before Stockton put the game out of reach by outscoring the Scarlet Raptors 18-3 over the next 7:34. Massaquoi propelled Stockton to the insurmountable 49-28 lead by scoring his final eight points of the game during the spurt.
