Richard Stockton (6-2, 2-0 NJAC) won their second consecutive NJAC matchup by stopping the seven-game winning streak of #14 William Paterson (7-1, 1-1) 61-52 at The Sports Center.

Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT/New Britain) registered her third consecutive double-double with game highs of 19 points and 15 rebounds as the Ospreys dealt the Pioneers their first loss of the season.

The game was a tense defensive contest that saw both teams shoot under 40 percent from the floor. The largest margin of the first half was an 18-13 Stockton lead following four straight free throws by Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem). After nine ties and seven lead changes, Stockton led by one at the half, 29-28, behind LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/ Overbrook) who scored nine of her 17 points during the period.

In the second half, Fagan broke loose to score 14 of her 19 points and pull down 10 of her 15 rebounds to spur the Ospreys to victory. After the game’s 17th tie, William Paterson took a 52-50 lead on a basket with 3:50 remaining but the Pioneers did not score again. Stockton took the lead for good at 53-52 on a jumper by Fagan with 2:33 to play. The bucket was part of a game-ending 11-0 run that spurred the Ospreys to the 61-52 victory.

Thompson chipped in with 11 points and played superb defense for Stockton in the deciding half. Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) also contributed 10 rebounds and a career-high seven assists. The Ospreys scored 44 points in the paint and controlled the glass with a 49-36 rebound advantage.
