Montclair State 72, Stockton 67

Richard Stockton (12-6, 5-2 NJAC) shot just 32.3 percent from the floor and fell short 72-67 in a conference game at Montclair State (10-9, 4-4). Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT/New Britain) led the Ospreys with 12 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double. Aspen Price-Perry (Lindenwold/Lindenwold) tossed in 11 points, all in the first half.

Erin MacAdams (Gloucester/Gloucester) scored 10 points and LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) grabbed 15 boards to go along with eight points. Stockton connected on just five of 22 three-point attempts (22.7%) and never led in the game despite several rallies.

Montclair took its largest lead at 37-23 before Price-Perry scored the last six points of the half to pull Stockton within 37-29 at the break. Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) scored four straight points early in the second half as the Ospreys shaved the gap to 37-35, but Montclair scored five of the next six points to retain the lead. A brief 4-0 spurt later brought Stockton as close as 42-40 before the Red Hawks answered with an 11-1 run.

The Ospreys chipped away at the deficit and pulled within 59-56 when Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) capped a 6-0 spurt with two free throws at the 3:53 mark. Once again, Montclair State responded to the challenge, scoring the next five points to push the margin back to eight. MacAdams gave Stockton a glimmer of hope with five points in the last 22 seconds, but the Red Hawks went 5-6 at the line to hold on for the 72-67 final.
