Richard Stockton (13-6, 6-2 NJAC) got back on the winning track as they used a huge rebounding edge to defeat College of New Jersey (10-9, 3-5) 63-56 in an NJAC matchup. The Ospreys have now won five of their last seven games.

Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) led the Ospreys with 17 points while LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) had another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds and Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT/New Britain) led all rebounders with a game-high 16 boards. Stockton beat the Lions on the glass by a whopping 50-28 margin that proved to be the difference in the contest. The defensive struggle also produced 47 turnovers between the two squads.

The score was tied twice in the first half, but each time Stockton was able to pull away. With the game knotted at 18, Oliver scored three straight points to spark a 7-3 run that resulted in a 25-21 lead for the Ospreys at the break. Oliver finished the period with nine points and six rebounds.

In the second half, Stockton opened up a 38-30 lead but TCNJ cut the gap to two at 43-41 with 10:12 on the clock before Thompson gave the Ospreys some breathing room with a three-point play. After the Lions closed to within 49-46 on a three-pointer with just over four minutes remaining, Stockton then sealed the 63-56 win by shooting 10-12 from the line to end it, led by Thompson who sank all four of her attempts from the stripe.
