LaTonya Oliver

Boxscore
Richard Stockton (17-7, 9-3 NJAC) came alive during a second-half spurt and won their second consecutive game, defeating Rowan (12-10, 7-5 NJAC) 88-78 to clinch second place in the NJAC South Division.

The victory was the Ospreys’ fifth in their last six contests and avenged an earlier loss to the Profs in Pomona. LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) led Stockton with game highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.

Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph) scored four of her season-high 16 points in the opening minutes as Stockton jumped out to a 10-2 lead. The back and forth contest saw the Profs take a 36-34 lead into the break on a layup as time expired.

The score was tied six times in the tense first half, but Stockton came out of the locker room and steadily built a lead that stretched to as many as 15 points late in the game before finishing off Rowan.

Oliver led the Ospreys in the second half by scoring 18 of her 22 points and pulling down eight of her 12 rebounds. In support of Oliver, Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) added 11 of her 17 points and Aspen Price-Perry (Lindenwold/Lindenwold) tallied 10 of her 13 points in the second stanza, including two baskets from behind the arc. Stockton shot 56.3 percent from the floor and went 14-17 (82.4%) at the line for a total of 54 points in the second half as the Ospreys pulled away and won 88-78.
