Montclair State 61, Stockton 60

Richard Stockton (16-10) rallied from an 11-point deficit in the second half and had the final possession, but two last-second shots fell short as Montclair State (19-7) eliminated the Ospreys from the NJAC Tournament, 61-60.

Kai Massaquoi (Lawnside/Haddon Hts.) paced Stockton with a team-high 20 points, including 11-14 from the line. Ibn Moye (Toms River/Central Regional) added 13 points and a career-high seven rebounds. Teammates DiAndre Brown (Sicklerville/Camden County Tech) and Nnamdi Usuwa (Colonia/Colonia) added 10 points apiece.

Moye capped a 12-2 run with a three-pointer that gave Stockton a 25-20 lead with nine minutes left in the first half, but Montclair State led 34-32 at the break on the strength of 56-percent field goal shooting. Massaquoi led the Ospreys with 10 first-half points.

Montclair State stretched the lead to 45-34 with 15:33 to play before the Ospreys mounted their comeback. They fought back to take a two-point lead on two foul shots by Massaquoi with 5:24 remaining. Montclair State regained the lead and went up by three with two free throws at the 1:39 mark.

Massaquoi hit two more from the charity stripe to get Stockton within 61-60 with 41 seconds to go. After a missed Red Hawk foul shot, Moye missed from behind the arc with two seconds remaining. Adam Floyd (Northfield/Mainland) snared the offensive rebound but could not convert in traffic as time expired and Montclair State prevailed 61-60.
