Montclair State 64, Stockton 55

Richard Stockton (17-9) was unable to overcome the accurate shooting of Montclair State (14-12) in the second half, and the Ospreys were eliminated from the NJAC Tournament, 64-55.

LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) led Stockton with 17 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph) and Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) added 13 and 10 points respectively.

Aspen Price-Perry (Lindenwold/Lindenwold) scored consecutive baskets during a 9-2 run that gave Stockton a 20-13 lead in the first half. The Ospreys later went scoreless for the last five minutes of the period while Montclair State reeled off 10 consecutive points for a 25-22 edge at the break. Stockton opened the second half with a 6-0 spurt that included two buckets by Oliver to put the Ospreys on top 28-25, but the lead was short-lived.

In the next seven minutes, Montclair State went 4-4 from three-point range while gradually pulling away. Stockton’s deficit reached double figures at 50-40 midway through the half and grew to 15 points five minutes later as the Ospreys could not rally. Overall, the Red Hawks went 5-7 from three-point range (71.4%) and 8-10 at the line (80%) in the second half to deal Stockton the 64-55 defeat.
