Game 1 / Game 2
Richard Stockton (5-1) swept a doubleheader from Penn State Abington (0-2) by scores of 2-0 and 4-1 in the Ospreys’ home opener. Stockton also extended its early-season winning streak to four games.

The opener was scoreless into the bottom of the fourth before Stockton plated two unearned runs. Following a Penn State Abington error with two outs, Mike Wasco (Riverside/ Riverside) ripped an RBI double and Shawn Kessler (Bayville/Central Regional) followed with an RBI single as the Ospreys produced the only runs of the game.

Winning pitcher Bryan Frank (Toms River/TR East) allowed two hits with two strikeouts in five scoreless innings. Gage Mick (Bridgeton/Cumberland) and John Lightbody (Toms River/TR East) each tossed one inning to complete the 2-0 shutout. The Ospreys managed just three hits but capitalized on their best scoring chance and also held Penn State Abington to only three hits.

In the nightcap, the Lions took a 1-0 lead in the second inning before Stockton took control with three runs in the third frame. Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) stroked an RBI single and then Jason Gordon (Brick/Brick Memorial) added an unearned run on the play for a 2-1 lead. Asta later scored on a wild pitch for a 3-1 edge, and he added another RBI single in the fifth inning for the 4-1 score.

Stockton starter Drew Holt (Toms River/TR South) earned the win, allowing one unearned run on four hits with two strikeouts in five innings pitched. Adam Warburton (Sewell/ Washington Twp.) held Penn State Abington scoreless in the sixth inning and then Lightbody pitched a perfect seventh frame for his second save of the day. Asta finished 2-3 with two RBI and a run.
