Boxscore
Richard Stockton (15-6, 1-2 NJAC) committed five errors that resulted in seven unearned runs as the Ospreys fell to Rutgers-Newark (11-8, 3-0) 9-5 in an NJAC road game.

Jason Gordon (Brick/Brick Memorial) led Stockton’s 13-hit attack with three safeties plus two RBI. Gordon also extended his hitting streak to five games.

Nick Scalise (Northfield/Mainland) went 2-3 with a double, run scored and an RBI. Barry Larro (Cedarville/Cumberland), Travis Marra (Toms River/TR East) and Chris Wedding (Toms River/TR East) also contributed two hits apiece. Stockton scored all of its runs in the first three innings.

Larro and Marra each scored unearned runs in the top of the first to stake the Ospreys to a 2-0 lead but Rutgers-Newark plated two unearned runs in the bottom half for a 2-2 tie. Gordon gave Stockton a 3-2 edge with an RBI single in the second frame. The advantage grew to 5-2 in the top of the third as Scalise notched an RBI with a sacrifice bunt and Gordon stroked another RBI single.

Rutgers-Newark took the lead for good, 6-5, with four unearned runs on three hits, two errors and a walk in the bottom of the third. The Stockton offense dried up from there as the Ospreys managed just four hits and left four runners on base over the last six innings. The Scarlet Raiders added an insurance run in the sixth frame and two more in the seventh for the 9-5 final score.
