Game 1 / Game 2
Richard Stockton (15-8, 1-4 NJAC) went on the road and fell twice to William Paterson (15-7, 5-1) in an NJAC doubleheader. In the first game, the Ospreys yielded three unearned runs in a 7-3 defeat. The Pioneers then rallied to edge Stockton 3-2 in the second game, increasing the Ospreys’ skid to four games.

Stockton fell behind 5-0 in game one before trying to rally with three runs in the seventh inning. Mike Ficarro (Elmira, NY/ Elmira) stroked and RBI single and Chris Wedding (Toms River/TR East) added a two-run single to make the score 5-3. William Paterson squashed the comeback with two runs in the eighth frame for the 7-3 final. Travis Marra (Toms River/TR East) went 3-4 with a run scored.

Marra delivered a two-run single in the third inning of the second game for a 2-0 Stockton lead. William Paterson pulled ahead 3-2 with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth. The Ospreys threatened in the eighth inning but stranded two runners. Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) singled and stole second with two outs in the ninth, but the game ended on a foul out, 3-2.

Marra went 2-3 with two RBI and Jason Gordon (Brick/Brick Memorial) was 2-4 with a double and a run, extending his hitting streak to seven games. The ninth-inning single by McGuckin was Stockton’s only other hit of the contest. Adam Warburton (Sewell/ Washington Twp.) pitched well, allowing three runs on seven hits in a complete game, but he was saddled with his first loss of the season (4-1).
