Boxscore
Richard Stockton (16-8, 2-4 NJAC) snapped a four-game skid with a 3-2 victory over Rutgers-Newark (13-9, 5-1) in the Ospreys’ first home game since February 27. Nick Scalise (Northfield/Mainland) went 2-2 with a double and two RBI to lead Stockton.

Mike Ficarro (Elmira, NY/Elmira) and Marc Asta (Jackson/ Jackson Memorial) also stroked two hits apiece for the Ospreys. Pitcher Drew Holt (Toms River/TR South) improved to 5-0, allowing two runs (one unearned) on eight hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings. John Lightbody (Toms River/TR East) pitched a scoreless ninth frame for his league-best 11th save.

Stockton took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Mike Wasco (Riverside/Riverside) drew his team-leading 18th walk of the season and scored on an RBI single by Asta. Rutgers-Newark tied the game 1-1 in the top of the fourth, but the Ospreys went ahead 2-1 on an RBI single by Scalise that scored Wasco in the bottom half.

The Scarlet Raiders pulled into a short-lived 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth. Stockton came right back with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth as Asta singled and then scored on an RBI double by Scalise that put the Ospreys on top 3-2.

Rutgers-Newark threatened with its last chance in the top of the ninth. After a leadoff walk was erased on a pickoff, three of the next four batters reached base to load the sacks with two outs. Lightbody went to a full count before inducing a game-ending flyout to clinch the 3-2 victory.
