Rowan 6, Stockton 1

Mike Wasco

Boxscore
Richard Stockton (16-9, 2-5 NJAC) was held without a hit until the eighth inning and fell to 26th-ranked Rowan (18-6-1, 6-1 NJAC) 6-1 as the Ospreys began a four-game homestand. Mike Wasco’s (Riverside/Riverside) swinging bunt was the only hit for the Ospreys on the day.

Rowan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as the Profs took early advantage of Osprey hurler Adam Warburton (Sewell/Washington Twp.).

After that, Warburton settled down and gave his teammates a chance to rally, allowing just one more run in the fifth frame on another RBI hit before exiting with four strikeouts after seven innings pitched.

The Profs tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning before Stockton broke through to spoil the no-hitter and the shutout. Wasco dribbled a single about 40 feet up the third base line for Stockton’s first and only hit. He came around on a balk, a ground out and a wild pitch to break the shutout with Stockton’s only run of the 6-1 defeat.
