Richard Stockton (16-11, 2-7) could not keep pace with third-ranked Kean (25-4, 8-1 NJAC) as the Cougars pounded out 14 hits and defeated the Ospreys 6-1 in the first game of a doubleheader. The second game was rained out and moved to April 18.

For Stockton, Travis Marra (Toms River/TR East) went 2-4 with a double while Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) and Barry Larro (Cedarville/Cumberland) added two hits apiece. The trio accounted for six of the team’s seven hits and Nick Scalise (Northfield/Mainland) added a single. McGuckin also scored once while Larro registered an RBI.

Stockton took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Larro in the second inning. Kean took the game over with four runs in the fifth frame. A throwing error by the Ospreys with the bases loaded resulted in three of the runs for the Cougars. Kean added two tallies in the sixth inning for the 6-1 final score. Stockton generated opportunities but left runners on base in each of the last six innings, including two apiece in the eighth and ninth frames.
