Stockton Women Win Delaware Meet; Akhtar Wins Men's Race

Led by a trio of top-ten finishers, the Stockton women’s cross country team won the six-team Division II/III bracket of the University of Delaware Invitational with 49 points. In men’s competition, freshman Abad Akhtar (Atlantic City/ Atlantic City) won the Division II/III portion of the race with a time of 27:19. Akhtar earned his first career race victory at just his third college meet. The Stockton men’s team did not have enough entrants to register a team score.

Michelle Barile (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.) led the Stockton women’s team to victory with a fifth-place finish at 25:21 for 6k. Emily Peregrin (South Plainfield/Koinonia Academy) finished eighth with a time of 25:47 and Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) placed 10^th in 26:27. In the men’s race, Joe Ennis (West Windsor/WW-Plainsboro South) crossed the line at 29:39 for eighth place and Dan DiRocco (Allentown/Allentown) finished 11^th with a time of 29:48.
