Richard Stockton (18-14, 4-10) fell behind early and could not rally as the Ospreys fell 10-6 to College of New Jersey (23-8, 9-5) in an NJAC home game. The loss came in the second contest of a home-and-home set between the two teams. Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) went a perfect 4-4 at the plate to lead Stockton’s 15-hit attack.

TCNJ scored two runs in the second inning, four in the third frame and two more in the fourth for an insurmountable 8-0 advantage. Stockton got on the board in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Jason Gordon (Brick Twp./Brick Memorial) and an RBI double by Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) that scored Gordon for an 8-2 score.

Stockton made things interesting with four runs on five hits in the bottom of the ninth before the final out. Matt Cann (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson), Shawn Kessler (Bayville/Central Regional) and Mike Ficarro (Elmira, NY/Elmira) all stroked RBI hits in the inning. The Ospreys also left two runners on base as the late rally fell short in the 10-6 defeat.
