Sean McCallum (Vineland/Vineland) scored 3:44 into the first overtime to lift Stockton to its first NJAC win of the season, 2-1 over New Jersey City. Rafael Duarte (Ocean City/Ocean City) added a goal and an assist, and Stockton goalkeeper Brad Ferguson (Galloway/ St. Joseph) made five saves to earn the win in his first start. Ferguson joined the team only four days earlier to replace injured keeper Matt Hart (Dayton/South Brunswick) on the roster.
After a scoreless first half, New Jersey City took a 1-0 lead on a 30-yard shot that snuck in under the crossbar at 67:03. Duarte tapped in a loose ball at 74:51 to tie the game at 1-1, with Butch Huff (Toms River/TR North) and Pat Tolomeo (Ocean City/Ocean City) earning assists on the scoring play. Early in the first overtime, Duarte poked the ball to McCallum who blasted a low 15-yard shot into the goal to give Stockton the 2-1 victory. |
