Richard Stockton (1-0) came out firing on all cylinders in the 2011-12 season opener. The Ospreys pounded Neumann (0-1) 95-50 in a matchup between two teams that were in the NCAA Tournament last season. Aspen Price-Perry (Lindenwold/Lindenwold) led all players with career highs of 26 points and nine assists. Two additional Ospreys reached double digits as Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) scored a career-high 18 points and Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) tossed in 16 markers. Stockton shot 52.1 percent from the floor and 81 percent (17-21) at the free throw line. Thompson also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for a double-double and Alwan snagged nine boards. Thompson hit two early buckets and Price-Perry dished three assists as Stockton raced out to a 12-0 lead in the first 4:05 before Neumann finally got on the board with a three-pointer. After the Knights got within 18-13, the Ospreys reeled off 14 unanswered points for a 32-13 lead. Price-Perry spurred the onslaught with nine points during the run. Stockton led 48-22 at the half and cruised to the 95-50 victory as Neumann struggled offensively, shooting just 25 percent from the floor and 50 percent at the stripe for the game. The Ospreys led by at least 26 points for the entire second half and 10 of the 12 Stockton players that saw action cracked the scoring column. |
