Richard Stockton (3-1) took the lead for good midway through the first half and went on to a 71-56 road win at Stevens (2-2). LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) carried the Ospreys to victory with game highs of 22 points and 15 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Aspen Price-Perry (Lindenwold/Lindenwold) contributed 15 points and a game-high six assists while Che’na Thompson (Salem/Salem) finished with 10 points, six boards and five assists. Stockton went 23-29 (79.3%) at the free throw line in the contest. Nancy White (Ocean City/Ocean City) sank the go-ahead basket during a 13-2 run that turned an early five-point deficit into a 17-11 lead. Oliver and Price-Perry combined for 11 points as the Ospreys outscored Stevens 13-6 over the last four minutes of the first half for a 37-28 advantage at the break. Oliver led all players with 10 first-half points. Stockton led 48-35 midway through the second half before Stevens closed the gap to six points. Oliver halted the run with a layup that ignited a game-clinching 7-0 spurt and the Ospreys later went 6-6 at the line in the last 1:18 to seal the 71-56 victory. |
