STOCKTON WINS HOME OPENER 76-67

Richard Stockton (6-1, 1-0 NJAC) won their NJAC opener and home opener 76-67 over Montclair State (2-4, 0-2 NJAC) for their fifth consecutive victory.

LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) led the way with 16 points and 12 rebounds for her fourth straight double-double. Oliver also was honored before the game for scoring her 1,000th career point last week.

The Ospreys fought back from a seven-point deficit midway through the period to tie the game 40-40 at the half. Aspen Price-Perry (Lindenwold/Lindenwold) scored 12 of her 14 points before the break to keep Stockton in the contest. Melissa Tobie paced all scorers with 17 first-half points for Montclair State and the Red Hawks shot 53.1% from the field.

The Ospreys then turned up the heat in the second half. Stockton scored five points in a row to open up a 55-47 edge with 11:28 remaining. Oliver later hit consecutive baskets to extend the lead to double figures at 61-51 with 7:14 to play, and Stockton led by at least six for the rest of the game.

In addition to Oliver, Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds for Stockton. Price-Perry added four assists to go with her point total. The Ospreys out-rebounded the Red Hawks 50-32 for the game, with 20 of those boards coming on the offensive glass and leading to 23 second-chance points.

Tobie led all scorers with 21 points and a team-high eight boards for the Red Hawks. Jaime Erickson chipped in with 13 while Michelle Montagna and Sara Farrell tallied 10 points apiece. Montclair shot just 29% from the field for the second half and went just 4-21 (19%) from three-point range in the game.
