STOCKTON EDGES GOUCHER 80-76

Richard Stockton (3-4) returned from a 10-day layoff and defeated Goucher (1-7) 80-76 in a close game that featured 15 lead changes and 12 ties.

DiAndre Brown (Sicklerville/Camden Co. Tech) led the Ospreys to their second straight win with a team-high 22 points. Brown went 4-5 from three-point range. Pat Kelly (Cape May CH/Wildwood Catholic) also hit four three-pointers and tossed in 16 points.

Ibn Moye (Toms River/Central Regional) contributed 12 points in his best outing of the season and Salman Yusuff (Vineland/Vineland) scored 10 points. Stockton shot 48% (12-25) from three-point range to help head coach Gerry Matthews earn career victory number 496.

The Ospreys went 8-14 (57.1%) from beyond the arc in the first half. They led by six after consecutive three-pointers by Rich Suhr (Toms River/TR East) midway through the period. Goucher responded by taking a seven-point lead late in the half before Stockton pulled within 39-36 at the break. Kelly paced the Ospreys with 13 first-half points.

Goucher broke out to a 48-39 lead in the second half and Stockton answered by scoring 12 straight points for a 51-48 edge. Brown spurred the rally with nine points in a row. After six more ties, the Ospreys opened up a 76-71 lead on a dunk by Yusuff with 3:15 on the clock. The Gophers fought back to tie the game 76-76 at the 1:50 mark, but Moye sank four free throws in the last 38 seconds that proved to be the difference as Stockton prevailed 80-76.
