STOCKTON KNOCKS OFF #8 LEBANON VALLEY 75-65 |

Richard Stockton (8-1) extended their winning streak to seven consecutive games with a 75-65 victory at home over Lebanon Valley (9-1). The Flying Dutchmen, who suffered their first loss of the season, are ranked #8 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. The Ospreys broke out of the gate quickly in the first half, leading by as many as 16 points after a 19-5 run gave them a 35-19 lead. The Flying Dutchmen closed to within four at the half with a 17-5 spurt in the last eight minutes to make it 40-36. Lebanon Valley was led by Caitlin Bach who scored 10 of her team-high 16 points before the break. Aspen Price-Perry (Lindenwold/Lindenwold) countered with nine of her 12 points in the first half for Stockton. The second half saw Stockton extend the lead to as many as 12 points on four occasions before Lebanon Valley once again fought back to close within three with 1:21 remaining. Stockton then knocked down seven of 10 foul shots to seal the victory. Brittany Muniz (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill East) and Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) each went 3-4 at the stripe to help Stockton clinch the 75-65 upset. Muniz, a freshman, led the Ospreys with a game-high and career-high 18 points, with 13 coming in the second half. Thompson added 14 markers while teammates Price-Perry and Lauren Alwan (Winslow Twp./Timber Creek) chipped in with 12 each. LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) pulled down eight rebounds to lead Stockton, who avenged a 64-34 defeat to Lebanon Valley last year. Kiely Chaklos scored 15 points, and along with Bach grabbed eight rebounds apiece. They were the only players in double figures for Lebanon Valley. The Flying Dutchmen shot just 24.3% from the field in the second half to suffer their first defeat of the season. |
