STOCKTON DROPS NJAC CONTEST TO TCNJ, 56-44 |
||
Richard Stockton (8-2, 1-1 NJAC) saw their seven-game winning streak come to a crashing halt as they dropped a 56-44 contest to NJAC foe The College of New Jersey (9-4, 2-1 NJAC). The Ospreys could not overcome cold shooting from the field as they shot just 25.8% for the game. Stockton took a slim 29-27 lead into the locker room at the half due to the play off the bench from Jill Henderson (Manahawkin/Southern), who scored seven of her career-high eight points before the break. The Lions stayed in the game from the three-point line as they hit four of nine from behind the arc for the half, led by Kelly Coughlin who went a perfect 3-3 and finished with 10 points in the period. The second half saw the Lions start to pull away as Stockton could not seem to find the rim. After Brittany Muniz (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill East) hit a three to bring the Ospreys to within 36-34, TCNJ outscored Stockton 17-4 in the next 8:29 to ice the game. TCNJ outscored the Ospreys 29-15 in the second half to post the 56-44 win. Hannah Tait led all scorers with 13 points for the Lions. Teammate Coughlin added 12 points while Candace Vigo snared a game-high 12 rebounds. Muniz led Stockton with 11 points and a career-high nine rebounds, while Henderson chipped in with career highs of eight points and eight boards. |
