||
Richard Stockton (8-3, 1-2 NJAC) could not keep pace with #5 William Paterson (14-0, 4-0) as the Pioneers defeated the Ospreys 88-69 to remain unbeaten. Aspen Price-Perry (Lindenwold/Lindenwold) scored a team-high 20 points for Stockton and LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) notched a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. With three starters out of the lineup, freshman Kelsey Brown (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) made her first career start and responded well, with eight points and eight rebounds in 29 minutes played. William Paterson harassed Stockton into 25 turnovers that were converted into 31 points off those miscues. William Paterson took control right from the start, racing out to a 16-4 lead in the first 5:16. Stockton’s deficit reached 20 points before the Ospreys closed the half with a 6-2 spurt on four free throws by Price-Perry and a layup by Brown to close the gap to 43-27 at the half. Price-Perry brought Stockton within 15 points twice early in the second half, first with a three-pointer and then with two more free throws 79 seconds later. The Pioneers put the game out of reach with a 16-4 spurt over the next six minutes for a commanding 65-36 advantage. Although Brittany Muniz (Cherry Hill/CH East) scored all eight of her points during a 23-7 run that made the score 72-59, the deficit was too much to overcome and the Ospreys fell 88-69. |
