STOCKTON FALLS TO BARUCH 77-67 |
||
Richard Stockton (12-6) went on the road to New York City where the Ospreys fell to Baruch (9-8) 77-67 in a non-conference game. Freshman Kelsey Brown (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) led a group of four Ospreys in double figures with 17 points. Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) came off the bench and scored 12 points in 19 minutes played. Brittany Muniz (Cherry Hill/CH East) and Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) tossed in 11 and 10 points respectively and each handed out four assists. The Ospreys were done in by poor shooting in the second half when they went just 8-25 (32%) from the field and 10-20 (50%) at the free throw line. Stockton got off to a solid start and broke out to a 14-6 lead behind Brown’s six early points. Baruch fought back and the lead changed nine times before the half finished with the Ospreys in front 40-39. Brown paced Stockton with 10 first-half points while Thompson and Alwan contributed eight apiece. Stockton fell victim to offensive woes in the second half, scoring just five points in the first seven minutes while Baruch opened up a 59-45 lead. After their deficit grew to 16, the Ospreys tried to rally as Brown and Muniz scored three points apiece during a 7-0 spurt that brought them within 65-56 at the 7:22 mark. Stockton later cut the gap to seven at 73-66 after a jumper by Thompson with 1:57 to play but that was as close as the Ospreys got and Baruch prevailed 77-67. |
