STOCKTON EXTENDS WINNING STREAK 70-67 IN OVERTIME

Richard Stockton (13-6, 7-1 NJAC) kept their winning streak alive with a 70-67 overtime victory over Kean University (3-17, 2-6). It was the Ospreys fifth straight win and 10th in their last 11 contests.

Ibn Moye (Toms River/Central Regional) led Stockton with a career high of 20 points, all of which came after halftime. He also set a new career mark with seven rebounds.

Bill McDonough (Spring Lake/St. Rose) also tallied 20 points and snared a game-high 11 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season. DiAndre Brown (Sicklerville/ Camden County Tech) scored 18 more for the Ospreys.

The Cougars controlled the tempo during a back and forth first half, with Kean holding as much as a five-point advantage. Kean led 24-21 before consecutive baskets by Rich Suhr (Toms River/TR East) and McDonough gave the Ospreys a 25-24 lead at the break.

In the second half, McDonough scored 10 early points as Stockton sprinted out to a 13-point lead at 45-32 before the Cougars started to slice the lead. A 13-3 Cougar run in the last four minutes tied the game at 59 each with five seconds left. Stockton had one last attempt to win in regulation, but Suhr’s three-pointer fell off the rim as time expired, sending the game to the extra frame.

Stockton took the lead for good by scoring the first five points of overtime. Overall, the Ospreys outscored Kean 11-8 in the overtime period with Moye tallying five of the points. The Cougars had a chance to force double-OT but a three-pointer by Anthony Gibson at the buzzer was off the mark and Stockton held on for the 70-67 triumph.

Michael Burton topped Kean with 20 markers while Andrew Kirey added 17 points including 5-9 from behind the arc.
