STOCKTON FALLS TO ROWAN 67-52

Richard Stockton (14-10, 4-8 NJAC) saw their modest two-game win streak come to a halt as they dropped a 67-52 decision to Rowan University (9-15, 3-9 NJAC). The Profs snapped a four-game slide with the victory.

Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) led Stockton with 13 points, 11 rebounds and five steals. LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) added 11 points, a team-high 13 rebounds and a career-high eight blocks.

Seniors Oliver, Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph) and Nancy White (Ocean City/Ocean City) were honored before the game on Senior Day.

After back-and-forth play early, Rowan began to pull away as the Ospreys shot poorly in the opening stanza. Rowan led by 10 on a basket by Kaitlin Schullstrom before Sarah Gibbs (Ocean View/Ocean City) scored five straight points to bring Stockton to within 25-20.

Rowan answered with the last four points of the half and took an eight-point lead into the locker room at 28-20. Stockton shot just 17.6% during the first half. Alwan and Oliver led the offense with six points apiece.

Rowan kept the Ospreys at bay during the second half until Alwan's layup brought Stockton to within 32-29. That was as close as the Ospreys would get. The Profs later scored six straight points, including five by Kate Matthews, to go ahead comfortably by 14 and they cruised home from there to the 67-52 victory.

Matthews led all scorers with 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for Rowan. Lauren Gregg added 13 counters while Schullstrom chipped in with 12 points and 12 rebounds, including nine off the offensive glass.

If Stockton loses and Rowan wins in the regular season finales on Wednesday, then the teams will be tied for the last berth in the NJAC playoffs. Stockton will then host Rowan in an NJAC tournament play-in game at The Sports Center on Thursday.
