Boxscore

Richard Stockton (14-11, 4-9 NJAC) stayed close to #24 Kean (21-4, 12-1) but could not pull the upset as the Ospreys fell 53-47.

The defeat coupled with a Rowan win over Rutgers-Camden brought the two teams into a tie for last spot in the NJAC Tournament and forced a play-in game.

Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) led Stockton with team highs of 14 points and 10 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double and third of the season. Brittany Muniz (Cherry Hill/CH East) also reached double figures with 10 points and added seven boards.

Stockton got off to a great start as Muniz hit two three-pointers to spark the Ospreys to an 8-1 lead. After Kean pulled ahead 11-10, Alwan scored nine straight points and Che’Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) followed with a three-point play to put Stockton ahead 22-11.

Kean outscored the Ospreys 19-7 the rest of the half and Stockton trailed 30-29 at the break despite Alwan's 13 first-half points.

Neither team scored much in the second half, with Stockton especially struggling by shooting just 17.2% including 0-8 from three-point range. Jill Henderson (Manahawkin/ Southern) capped a 7-2 spurt with a layup that tied the game at 36, but the Cougars scored the next eight points and never looked back.

Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph) hit two free throws to get Stockton within 49-46 with 30 seconds to play. Kean quickly answered with a layup a few ticks later that ended the rally as the Ospreys suffered the 53-47 defeat.
