STOCKTON SEASON ENDS WITH 57-53 DEFEAT

#2 seed Richard Stockton (20-9) saw its 2011-12 season come to an end as they dropped a 57-53 verdict to #3 seed Brooklyn College (19-9) in the ECAC Metro semifinals. The Ospreys were done in by 21 turnovers 4-19 shooting from three-point range (21.1%).

Senior DiAndre Brown (Sicklerville/Camden County Tech) finished his career at Stockton with a team-high 14 points and game-high 11 rebounds while Darnell McCargo (Woodlynne/Collingswood) chipped in with 11 counters.

Stockton fell behind early as Brooklyn sped out to an eight-point lead at 26-18 before the Ospreys reeled off the last eight points to forge a tie at 26 at the break. McCargo scored nine of his 11 points in the first half to lead Stockton to the deadlock.

The contest stayed close in the second half until the Bulldogs crept out to a 46-39 lead that they never relinquished. Tyshawn Russell scored 13 of his game-high 26 points during the first 10 minutes of the second half to spark Brooklyn to the lead.

Stockton closed to within two at 48-46 on an Ibn Moye (Toms River/Central Regional) trey but could not get any closer. Moye again hit a three-ball to bring the Ospreys within 53-51 with 15 seconds remaining but Russell hit two foul shots and a layup by Stockton’s Dave Williams (Pennsauken/ Pennsauken) was countered by a game-ending slam from Kieran Halton (Manasquan/Manasquan) to seal the 57-53 final score.

Russell led the Bulldogs with a game-high 26 points while teammate Amil John tallied 12 markers and four steals.
