STOCKTON EDGED 6-5 BY FDU-FLORHAM

Richard Stockton (12-7) rallied from a five-run deficit to tie the game before falling short 6-5 to FDU-Florham (8-9). Barry Larro (Cedarville/Cumberland) led the Ospreys by going 2-4 with a double and two RBI.

FDU-Florham scored three runs in the second inning and two more in the third for a 5-0 lead. Stockton tied the game with five runs in sixth frame.

Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) started the rally with a two-run single and Shawn Kessler (Bayville/Central Regional) followed with an RBI single to make the score 5-3. After a sacrifice bunt, Larro stroked a two-run double to pull the Ospreys into a 5-5 tie.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, FDU-Florham loaded the bases with a single and two walks. John Pieper drew the third consecutive walk by Stockton pitchers to plate the go-ahead run. Chris Wedding (Toms River/TR East) singled with two out in the ninth but was stranded in the 6-5 defeat.

Kessler and Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) each recorded two hits in the game. Stockton out-hit FDU-Florham 10-7 in the game but left 13 runners on base.
