The Stockton women’s soccer team fell behind twice before scoring the final two goals of the game to edge Ramapo 3-2. With the victory, the Ospreys extended their unbeaten streak to six matches (5-0-1). Val Davison (Cranbury/Princeton) scored the game-winning goal, and Courtney Dougherty (Ocean City/Ocean City) and Amanda Altman (Beachwood/Toms River South) also found the back of the net. Goalkeeper Melissa Stuhler (Williamstown/ Williamstown) posted four saves for the win.
Four of the five goals were scored in the first half, starting with a Ramapo tally at 22:23. Just 1:36 later, Dougherty tied the game at 1-1 with an assist by Stephanie Anderson (Hackettstown/Mt. Olive). Ramapo went ahead 2-1 on a penalty kick at 34:54, but the Ospreys again responded quickly . Altman knotted the match at 2-2 with an assist by Leah Pocoroba (Galloway/Holy Spirit) only 1:24 later. In the second half, Davison netted the game-winner assisted by Sharon Davis (Burlington/Burlington Twp.) at 48:06 and Stockton protected the lead for the 3-2 victory. |
