Senior guard Mario Lancioni (Runnemede/Triton) scored a game-high 18 points and reached the 1,000-point mark as the Stockton men’s basketball team pounded Lebanon Valley 72-50 in the first round of the Moravian Greyhound Starters Classic.  Lancioni, a 2007 NJAC All-Conference Second Team selection, entered the game with 984 points and achieved the 1,000-point milestone on a free throw with 4:18 remaining in the game.

Younger brother Santini Lancioni (Runnemede/Paul VI) tallied 11 points and a game-high seven assists, and Kevin Brown (Neptune/Neptune) also tossed in 10 points for the Ospreys.  Stockton forced 30 turnovers by Lebanon Valley and never trailed in the game.

Santini Lancioni scored five consecutive points and Mario Lancioni closed a 12-3 run with a three-point play to give Stockton a 30-16 lead in the first half.  The Ospreys later scored the final five points of the period on a three-pointer by Mario Lancioni followed by a layup from Kai Massaquoi (Lawside/Haddon Hts.) for an insurmountable 40-21 cushion at the break.

Lebanon Valley got as close as 11 points in the second half, but the Lancioni brothers combined to score nine consecutive points, five by Santini, and Fran Kelly (Wildwood/Wildwood Catholic) added a three-pointer to put the Ospreys on top 58-35.  With 4:18 remaining, Mario Lancioni sank the first of two free throws to become the 23rd Stockton men’s basketball player to reach the 1,000-point mark.  From there, the Ospreys cruised to the 72-50 victory.
