Women Second, Men Tied for Eighth at NJAC Championships

Results
The Stockton women’s track & field team finished second with 108 points and the Osprey men’s team tied for eighth with 16 points in the NJAC Indoor Championships.  Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/Hamilton West) was named Co-Outstanding Female Track Athlete of the meet, Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) was chosen Outstanding Female Field Athlete and Todd Curll was voted NJAC Women’s Coach of the Year.  Tony DeFeo (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) was named Outstanding Men’s Field Athlete for the Ospreys.
 
Malloy set a new meet record with her victory in the 5000m run (17:48.34), and she also won the 3000m run (10:39.38) for Stockton.  Shepherd won the high jump (1.65m) while Stephanie Aromando (Newton/Kittatinny) won the weight throw (14.15m).  Shepherd and Aromando both repeated as NJAC champions in their respective events. 
 
DeFeo also was a repeat winner in the men’s pole vault (4.88m), setting a meet record and becoming an NCAA provisional qualifier in the process.  In addition, DeFeo posted a third-place finish in the weight throw (13.62).  Victoria Barden (Bayville/Central) finished second behind Shepherd in the high jump (1.65m) on a tiebreaker and placed third in the pole vault (2.90m).  Rachel Joseph (Livingston/Livingston) was the runner-up in the pole vault (2.90m), edging Barden on a tiebreaker.
