Stockton 2, Centenary 1 | ||
Sophomore Ashley Goodsell (Southampton/Seneca) scored her first career goal in the first half as Richard Stockton (15-2-1) defeated Centenary (6-8-1) 2-1 in a non-conference game. The victory for the Ospreys was their sixth consecutive win. They have not lost a game since October 1 against Rowan. Stockton goalkeeper Alex Rogers (Medford/Shawnee) made two saves in the match, both in the first half. In the 40th minute, Goodsell capitalized on a rebound after Samantha Bean’s (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) initial shot was saved by the Centenary keeper. Bean was credited with the assist on the scoring play. Stockton made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute as Melissa Scully (Gloucester Twp./Highland) scored her second goal of the season, chipping the ball over the Centenary goalie from the left flank. Late in the second half, the Cyclones got on the board on a penalty kick to cut the Stockton lead to 2-1 in the 84th minute. The goal ended Rogers’ 388-minute shutout streak. The last goal allowed by Rogers was back on October 8 against Salisbury. The Ospreys protected their one-goal lead for the final 6:34 to record their sixth straight win, 2-1. |
