Stockton 97, Marywood 69 | ||
Richard Stockton (1-0) tipped off the 2008-09 season with a 97-69 victory over Marywood (0-1) in the first round of the Mount St. Mount College Tournament this afternoon. Chad Davis (Millville/Sacred Heart) led the Ospreys with 16 points on perfect 8-8 shooting. Kai Massaquoi (Lawnside/ Haddon Hts.) and Santini Lancioni (Runnemede/Paul VI) notched career highs of 16 and 15 points respectively. Jerome Hubbard (Neptune/Neptune) drained four three-pointers for 12 points and Michael Farrow (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) finished with 11 points and a team-high five assists. Stockton shot 67.2 percent from the field, including 9-17 (52.9%) from three-point range. Davis scored six early points as the Ospreys raced out to a 13-2 lead in the first five minutes. Stockton later used a 14-4 run to extend the advantage to 45-20 with 5:07 remaining in the first half. The Ospreys shot a torrid 76.7 percent from the floor in the period and led 53-32 at the break. Stockton stayed in front by at least 20 points for the entire second half and coasted to the 97-69 win in its season opener. |
