Matt Hunt

game 1 / game 2
Richard Stockton (5-2) swept a doubleheader against Medaille (0-3) on the second day of its spring break trip to Cocoa Beach, Florida. In game one, the Ospreys used a three-run seventh inning to earn a 7-6 victory. With Stockton trailing 5-4 heading into the final frame, Scott Fisher (Toms River/Toms River East) hit a go-ahead two-run homer to put the Ospreys ahead for good.

Three batters later, Matt Hunt (Marlton/St. Joseph’s) tallied his third hit of the game and singled home Mike Wasco (Riverside/ Riverside) for an insurance run that made the score 7-5. The Ospreys needed that insurance run after reliever Jay Wilson (Brick/Brick) allowed an RBI groundout in the bottom of the seventh to make the score 7-6. With two outs, Wilson retired the final batter of the game via strikeout to secure the victory for Stockton.

In game two, the Ospreys ratcheted up the offensive pressure and used an 11-run fourth inning to put away the Mustangs early, en route to a 19-8 victory. Hunt continued his offensive barrage, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and one RBI. Also at the plate, four Ospreys connected on home runs as Fisher, Wilson, Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/ Winslow Twp.) and Matt Allen (Salem/Woodstown) all went deep.
