Richard Stockton junior Kaitlyn Corica (Iselin/JFK) was named the NJAC Softball Pitcher of the Week and senior Cehara Wellington (Cherry Hill/CH East) was chosen the NJAC Field Athlete of the Week today. Corica earned her second career NJAC Pitcher of the Week honor and she was a three-time NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week in 2007. Wellington collected her first NJAC track & field weekly award.

Corica pitched a four-hit shutout to lead Stockton to a 1-0 triumph over College of New Jersey on April 8. The righty hurler struck out four and retired the final six batters in order after the Ospreys scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the shutout, Corica’s third of the season, she improved to 7-2 with 72 strikeouts and a 0.94 ERA. Only a junior, Corica already is Stockton’s all-time leader with 30 career victories

Wellington won the discus at the West Chester Invitational on Saturday with a toss of 38.90 meters (127’7”). The senior topped 24 other competitors in the event, winning by just nine inches over the second-place finisher. Wellington who also competes in the shot put, registered her best throw and first event win of the season. A two-sport athlete, Wellington played in 20 games for the Stockton women’s basketball team during the winter.
