Boxscore Stockton had a one-goal lead after the first half on McCallum’s tally at 11:46. He took a beautiful pass from Nelson and buried a low shot to the left corner. Rutgers-Newark tied the match 1-1 on a 30-yard shot early in the second half at 48:42, but Nelson scored with 26 minutes left. Pat Tolomeo’s (Ocean City/Ocean City) perfect pass allowed Nelson to hit the far corner for a 2-1 Stockton lead. Rutgers-Newark knotted the game at 2-2 on a penalty kick at the 74-minute mark and the contest went to overtime. Neither team scored in the first OT and the match went to a second extra period where Rutgers-Newark won on a well-placed 30-yard free kick into the top left corner with 4:44 to play. |
