CHRISTINE VELOTT NAMED NJAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Richard Stockton sophomore Christine Velott (Moorestown/ Moorestown) was chosen the NJAC Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season. The outside hitter led the Ospreys to a 5-0 record last week with a team-high 4.44 kills plus 2.50 digs and 0.62 service aces per game. Velott topped Stockton in kills and registered double-digit kill totals in four of the five matches.

Velott started the week with a match-high 18 kills in a sweep of William Paterson on October 20. At the CCNY Tournament, she began with team highs of 17 kills against CCNY and 12 kills versus Clark. On day two of the tourney, Velott tallied eight kills in a win over Mt. Aloysius and then finished with a double-double of 16 kills and 14 digs as Stockton completed its undefeated week with a win over Whittier in four sets.

Velott, the 2008 NJAC Rookie of the Year, currently leads the 23-10 Ospreys and ranks second in the league in kills (3.41 kpg). The sophomore also is averaging 2.12 digs and 0.31 service aces per game. Velott previously was named the NJAC Player of the Week two weeks ago on October 13. Last year, she also earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors twice and was voted to the NJAC All-Conference Second Team.
